If you need to set up your email account in an external mail app like Outlook, Apple Mail, or Thunderbird, you'll need the correct server settings for incoming and outgoing mail. Here’s how you can easily find these details from your cPanel account:

Step-by-Step: Finding Mail Settings in cPanel

  1. Log in to cPanel.

  2. Click on “Email Accounts” under the Email section.

  3. Locate the email address you want to use, and click the “Connect Devices” button next to it.

  4. Scroll down to the “Mail Client Manual Settings” section.

You’ll see two sets of settings here:

Secure SSL/TLS Settings (Recommended)

These settings provide encrypted email transmission, which is the safest and most widely supported option.

  • Username: Your full email address (e.g., [email protected])

  • Password: The password you set for that email account

  • Incoming Server: mail.yourdomain.com

    • IMAP Port: 993

    • POP3 Port: 995

  • Outgoing Server (SMTP): mail.yourdomain.com

    • SMTP Port: 465

  • Authentication Required: Yes (for both incoming and outgoing)

Non-SSL Settings (Not Recommended)

This section is collapsed by default. You can click “Show Non SSL/TLS Settings” to expand it if needed, but it’s best to use the secure options above.

Which Should You Use: IMAP or POP3?

  • IMAP is recommended if you want to check your email from multiple devices, as it keeps messages stored on the server.

  • POP3 is better for single-device access and downloads messages locally.

That’s it! Use these settings to manually configure your preferred email client and start sending and receiving emails.
